A Quick Preview of the 2019-2020 NBA Season

NBA fans are in for a wild ride

One of the most anticipated sports seasons has finally arrived– NBA season.

Two great games opened up the season. The reigning champs, the Toronto Raptors, defeated the New Orleans Pelicans (fresh from losing Anthony Davis, a staple of their franchise for the past few years), 130-122.  In the other game played on the opposite end of the country, the Lakers fell to the Clippers, 102-112.

This upcoming 2019-2020 season has been preceded by one of the weirdest and most surprising off-seasons in the past few years, mainly on the trade front. Kawhi Leonard, arguably the best player in the league right now, left the Raptors following their championship win and is now part of the Clippers, a major championship contender for this year.

In the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks, led by the Greek Freak himself, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the Philadelphia 76ers, an elite team with two new additions to their roster, are both major contenders and the two best teams in the East.

The Lakers, Nuggets, Rockets, and Trailblazers are all dangerous teams this year and will prove to make the Western Conference a tight race to the playoffs. Though they don’t have the star power or dynasty of the Warriors from years past, these four teams will give the Clippers a run for their money this season.

As for rising stars, Jamal Murray and Ben Simmons, along with Dejounte Murray, are players to watch this season. Each of these players are by far not perfect, but they’re definitely growing in skill. Over time, there’s no doubt that they’ll be stars.

This upcoming NBA season is welcomed with open arms by fans from around the world and has been widely anticipated as a bit of a wildcard year. From the extreme personnel losses that the Warriors suffered, to the building of a possible new dynasty in Los Angeles, and even the beginning of a Post-Dirk era in Dallas, this new season is one that will even stun the die-hard fan base that the NBA has curated over the years. It’s a must-watch season.
