It is hard to believe that the night that everybody had been waiting for all of high school is actually over. Prom was on April 26th and was heard by many that this was “the best prom yet.” 520 people showed up to the beautiful City Place where the Night In Paris themed prom was held on the 42nd floor. The doors opened at 8:00pm and lasted until midnight. Shortly after prom ended the after prom began at 1:00am and lasted until 5:30am in Shenanigans, where there was endless amounts of bowling, laser tagging, mini golfing, go carting, etc. “With over 30 volunteers and over $30,000 given away I guess you can say the night was a success,” Prom Sponsor Angel Wheeler said.

Prom night is one that students are supposed to dress to impress. Traditionally the men are encouraged to wear tuxes and the women are meant to wear long evening gowns. Victor Del Rosario sported a “classic black tux with a bow tie.” Peyton Harris wore a “long coral Badgley Mischka dress.” The night was highly eventful from morning to morning, and had students making every minute of it last whether it was getting ready, dancing, playing games, or just chilling out. “My highlight of the night would probably have to be dancing the night away as well as after prom” Del Rosario said. For most girls getting ready for prom was the biggest concern of the day. “The highlight of my day was getting my hair and makeup done! Getting pampered all day made me feel so glamorous!” Harris said. Other people’s favorite part of the night was simply just hanging out with their friends and loved ones. “The highlight of the night was spending 15 hours with Julia Ryan!” Patrick Hargrove said.

Many prizes were given away throughout the whole night. Hargrove won one of the bigger prizes that night, which was a brand new 2015 Mac Book Pro. “I’m glad I did because my old laptop is 10 years old!” Hargrove said. Others got many gift cards and cash money to take home with them. “The awesome part about prom this year was that everybody had a chance to win at least $25 by spinning the money wheel,” Del Rosario said. “I won a gift card to cold stone, A coupon to culvers and a gift card to Hacienda car wash, I’m just happy that I won something!” Harris said

The crowning of prom King and Queen also took place before the night was over. Varsity baseball star and senior class VP Mason Taylor was crowned Prom King and Student Council President Madi Thomas was crowned Prom Queen. “I wasn’t thinking really. I was mostly perplexed as to being chosen. I had no expectation of being a nominee much less being chosen as king. Although that is true, I felt honored and joyful that I was chosen,” Taylor humbly said. Thomas had close to the same reaction when being called up to the stage. “When they crowned me I was thinking to myself, “oh my goodness, is this really happening?!” I honestly did not expect to be nominated at all. I had no idea my peers would vote for me!” Thomas said. Later on during the night the two congratulated each other on twitter for the big reveal. “Can’t think of a more deserving man thanMason” Thomas said. Taylor then replied with “and I can’t picture a more stunning queen! So happy for you Madi you’re the perfect queen.”

“The night was so fun and I didn’t hear a complaint from anyone else which was a relief. The night was magical and it approximated perfection,” said Taylor. The overall impression of the night by majority of students was perfect!
