Showing our appreciation

A national holiday worth celebrating

Teachers appreciating teachers // all this week, there have been lunches, and breakfasts for our teachers to show them we appreciate what they do. Miss Dickens says, “ The PTA is great with appreciation. It feels good to know they care.”

This upcoming week, May 6th through May 10th, is teacher appreciation week. It is a chance to recognize the amazing things our teachers have done for their students.

“I think it is important to recognize our teachers because we don’t always show that we care. The work is hard so we seem frustrated even when the teachers the one who is doing their best. One week a year we can remind them we are grateful for what they do for us.” Said sophomore Brenna McIlwain.

Teachers enjoy it too. It’s tough being the one who disciplines and makes students work. Their students doing well and moving forward in their education is what keeps them going, but a little appreciation every now and again is always welcomed.

“The PTA does a good job of making us feel appreciated, especially with free food. And it’s always nice when our students say thank you. Doesn’t require a gift, even a nice note can be meaningful.” Said Mrs Dickens.

Teacher appreciation week is not just celebrated in schools, but all around the community. There are several restaurants that offer teacher discounts this week, including Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Cici’s, and more.

Teachers really make an impact on students lives, so make sure you show them. Try and pick one teacher ‍give a gift to so they know how grateful we are.
