Aspasians Marketplace is coming back to Rockwall this Spring season on Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium/Utley Middle School Parking Lot. This event, occuring twice annually, lets local vendors sell and display their items for shoppers to purchase. The 35 women who donate their time to make the Rockwall County locals feel welcome also raise money for local scholarships. Since the admission is free, the proceeds from the sold items and water bottle sales alone raised $70,000 towards graduating seniors in Rockwall County High Schools.
“Aspasians is one of the best times of the year. My mom and I love to spend hours at the marketplace and just have an enjoyable time, “ said Dani Alexander, sophomore.
Aspasians used to be held in the Downtown Rockwall Square but was moved to Wilkerson Sanders Stadium after renovations were beginning to take place. An estimated 5,000-15,000 people attend this event as it’s convenient location off of Interstate 30 attracts people to come check the market out.
“I go to Aspasians as much as I can. I like when the vendors are closer together at Wilkerson but the Square just gives it a different feel,” said senior, Kassidy Turner.
Several vendors, from Hallie B. to Southern Roots to Bunches, sell their apparel to the consumers of Rockwall. Vendors who benefit from Aspasians are:
- Antiques and collectibles
- Boutique clothing for adults and children
- Jewelry vendors
- Handmade crafts or other creative inspirations
- Repurposed items used to decorate the interior or exterior of homes
- Architectural salvage & upcycled items
- Unique gift ideas for the home or individual (monogrammed or labeled items, etc.)
- High quality handmade items for the home or the individual
- Specialty foods (for all of you yummy cooks out there)
- Scents for the home and body
- Children’s entertainment vendors (bounce houses, petting zoos, and other children’s entertainment)
- Some commercial vendors
“Going to Aspasians is a tradition for my mom and I. We always have fun seeing people we know and shopping at our favorite local places. It’s always a good experience,” said Emmy Wade, sophomore.
