The sweetest on the block

The cookie to remember // Supporting the theater department, senior Dominick Tan has a cookie cake made for some of his fellow classmates performing the one-act play. Many of the classmates enjoyed the cookie cake as it brought smiles backstage before the performance. “The cookie cake was actually pretty good. It wasn’t extremely sweet as the one in the mall but it was actually semi-sweet to where you could keep on having more slices,” said senior Dominick Tan.

Great American Cookies and Marble Slab Creamery is now open in Downtown Rockwall as of February 20. Located across the street from the new Kroger, this sweets shop is planning on making the people of Rockwall happier than ever.

Being one of the very few cookie and ice cream shops combined in Rockwall, they are seeing this as an opportunity to achieve a lot of business.

Great American Cookies promises fresh, hand-decorated, and family recipe cookies. Cookie cakes are one of the biggest sellers for them due to the ease of personalization made for any type of event.

“I loved their cookies long before I ever got a job there,” said employee Molly Berry. “The double doozies were definitely my favorite as a kid. That’s all I used to eat from there.”

Marble Slab Creamery offers handcrafted ice cream, hand-rolled cones, and unlimited toppings. Ice cream cake and cupcakes are also sold and can be made for any event too.

“I’ve been working here for a month and it took two weeks to get it all set-up and ready,” said Molly. “I like working here because it has made me more personable with everyone. I also I think it will help me with communicating with customers and other people in the future.”
