Movies out in December

What to see in theaters

Movies out in December-

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The final and last chapter of the Star Wars saga commences on December 20th. Following the last 8 movies, this 9th movie finalizes and ends this series’ 40 year plus running. In the film, the  remaining Resistance comes face to face with the First Order in this battle of knowledge and power. It follows Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron’s journey.

Bombshell: This Film Dance Festival movie comes out on the 13th. The movie follows the story of the women who brought down the reputation of Fox News mogul Roger Ailes. While broadcasting and showcasing in picture the corruption and lies that haunted this establishment, the movie delves into the sexual harassment landscape that plagued and still plagues the media today, bringing in a sense of where the ME-TOO movement came and originated from.

Jumanji: The Next Level: The sequel to Jumanji comes out on the 13th as well. As Spencer reenters the world of Jumanji, his friends jump in too, to save him, but one thing is different: the kid’s grandparents appear to join in on the game as well. In this sequel, the characters face more obstacles and danger than they did the first time they fell into the mystical world of Jumanji.

Cats: Based on the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, the film comes out in theaters on the 20th. The story follows the obstacles a tribe of cats face on their quest to decide who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and gain a new life. Starring in the movie are very prominent pop culture celebrities like Idris Elba, Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift, James Gordon, and Rebel Wilson.

1917: Coming out on the 25th, the movie follows the historical timeline of two young British soldiers on their quest to deliver a message warning troops during the height of WW1. The message contains information about a future ambush which will occur during a skirmish after the German flee to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich. Actors such as Richard Madden, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dean Charles, and George Mackay star in this film with great motion picture images and accounts of history.

Little Women: Coming out on the 25th as well, this movie follows the lives of 4 sisters, the March sisters, after the outcome of the Civil War. Each sister, valuing and desiring different things, stay bonded together despite their differing livelihoods. Based on the novel written by Louisa May Alcott in the later part of the 1800’s, the film plays on themes of independence, friendship, and ambition.

While there are just a few movies on here, there is a whole lot coming out soon or already out. If you need something to do during the upcoming holiday break, head to the movie theater!
